Emergency Shelter

Emercency assistance is offered to households depending on individual circumstances, and may include short term emergency shelter,presciption co pays, transportation, food, clothing or furniture.

We also have a working relationship with Lockport CARES, Inc. a short term emergency shelter in the city, and offer referrals to other appropriate human services organizations as circumstances require.

Red Cross Disaster Shelter

We are a designated disaster relief center for the American Red Cross. If a natural disaster strikes our area, our buildings would be a safe refuge for anyone in need of assistance.

Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee raises awareness among parishioners as to how to serve our brothers and sisters in need and how to advocate for peace and justice. Members develop legislative networks and support the legislative and social agenda of the Catholic Bishops.

Activities include support for our mission at Fatundu, Democratic Republic of Congo; speakers and videos at soup and sandwich socials; gifts for the needy at Christmas, a Lenten Rice Drive, and legislative action and letter writing campaigns.

New members are always welcome. Meetings are held each month (except July and August) in the Outreach Center . For more information, contact Michael Boron at 433-5252

St. Vincent de Paul Society

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an international Catholic organization of laymen and women who seek to help those in need in a spirit of justice, charity and person-to-person involvement.

In the St. Vincent de Paul Society, there are three classes of membership: active, associate, and contributing. Meetings are held at the Outreach Center on a monthly basis, or as needed. The chapter at St. John's is the second oldest in our nation.

NYS 5-hour class

Stevens' Driving School offers the 5-hour NYS pre-licensing course in Outreach Center. Held every Thursday at 5:00 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, or call 674-2340 for a reservation.



The Food Pantry, Diaper Pantry and Clothing Center are open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from Noon to 3pm



Sister Helen’s Food Pantry

which is affiliated with the Food Bank of Western New York, distributes food three days a week in addition to special distributions of complete meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Diaper pantry

The Diaper pantry distributes infant care products to eligible households.

The Clothing Center

The Clothing Center distributes new and gently-used clothing, small appliances and household items three days a week.

The Furniture Center

The Furniture Center distributes gently-used furniture, beds, and appliances to people in need of basic home furnishings in Eastern Niagara County.

We are always looking for additional resources including:

New volunteers
Non perishable food products, and infant care products
Clothing in good condition
Furniture basics including- beds, couches, stoves, and refrigerators
