Bosco

Bosco greets everyone at the door. He is very attached to Fr. James. He reminds everyone he meets to love unconditionally. In case you were wondering, Bosco is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachsund.

Fr. James Waite

Fr. James Waite is the Pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish. Fr. Waite grew up in Buffalo at All Saints Parish. He is a graduate of St. Joseph Collegiate Institute and Canisius College. Before he was ordained to the priesthood, he was an Instructor of General Education and Coordinator, and Chair of the Graphic Design and General Education Departments at Platt College in New port Beach, California. He graduated from Christ the King Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained in 2004. He served at Fourteen Holy Helpers Parish in West Seneca and at St. Gabriel's Parish in Elma. He is a member of the Diocesan Committee for the Continuing Formation of Priests. Fr. James's family live in the Town of Lockport and are parishioners at St. John's. You can reach Fr. Fr. Joe Dumphrey

Fr. Dumphrey was born in Lockport where he attended St. Patrick's Grade School and DeSales High School.Fr James' family lives in the Town of Lockport. Following high school graduation in 1953, he entered the Novitiate of the Oblates of St. Francis DeSales in Childs, Maryland. He was sent to study at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and received a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a master's degree in mathematics from there. During that time he also taught for two years at Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia. Father Joe was ordained a transitional deacon at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington in 1963. He was ordained to the priesthood at St. Anthony's parish in Wilmington, Delaware on April 11, 1964. After ordination he was assigned to DeSales High School in Lockport where he taught for four years. During this time he coached football, basketball and cross-country; and was school treasurer. In 1968 he was named principal of Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls. He remained there for seven years until it merged with Madonna High School to become Niagara Catholic High School. In 1975 Fr. Joe returned to DeSales where he resumed teaching, and spent his spare time helping out at local parishes and in ministry to the sick. He also taught various courses for the religious education teachers certification program. In 1985 he received the Educator of the Year award from the Diocese of Buffalo. After DeSales High School closed he taught for three years at O'Hara High School in Tonawanda, NY. In 1992 Fr. Brenda Randolph

Brenda Randolph is the Secretary for the Lifelong Faith Formation Office. She was the Parish Secretary/Bookkeeper for St. Mary’s in Gasport for over 40 years. She joined St. John’s Faith Formation team in 2008 when St. Mary’s merged with St. John’s. Brenda grew up in Lockport and celebrated all her sacraments at St. John’s Parish. She and her husband Gary, of 54 years, live in Gasport and are members of St. John’s Parish. They enjoy their 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. You can reach Brenda at 478-3565.

Cheryl Lewandowski

Cheryl Lewandowski is the Coordinator of Lifelong Faith Formation for St. John's and can be reached at 478-3565 or Email. She oversees the Faith Formation programs for families with children and teens in grades 1-10. She also coordinates preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. Cheryl has 20 years experience in parish life having served as a Parish Secretary, Bookkeeper, Catechist, Youth Ministry Coordinator and Faith Formation Coordinator. Before coming to Lockport, she served as Youth Minister/Faith Formation Coordinator at St. Mary’s /St. Stephen’s, Gasport/ Middleport. Upon the merger of St. Mary’s & St. John’s in 2008, she has been a member of our Ministry Staff. She has a Certificate in Pastoral Studies from Christ the King Seminary, Diocesan Certification as a Coordinator of Faith Formation and an AAS degree in Business Administration. Cheryl was born and raised in Auburn, NY and has resided in Middleport for the last 29 years. She has 4 sons and 3 grandchildren.

Kathleen Wilson

Kathleen Wilson has 32 years experience in Faith Formation. She began serving St. Anthony’s as a catechist and moved into coordinating the Faith Formation Program first at St. Anthony’s and then St. Joseph’s in Lockport. She joined St. John’s Faith Formation Team in 2008 after the closing of both churches. Kathleen is an instrumental member of the Faith Formation program working with children in grades 1-3 and in preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. She coordinates the Liturgical Catechesis Program during the 10am Mass. Kathleen lives in Lockport with her husband Gary. She has 4 children and 2 granddaughters. She also works full-time at George Southard Elementary School.

Cheryl Naples

Cheryl's primary duties as Business Manager is to manage the daily operations of the church. She has several years experience in management and customer service. Cheryl is currently acting as the Director of Development and Community Life. Her duties are to plan, coordinate, and oversee all social events and activities of the parish. In addition, she is the liason for the planning, facilitating and implementing of fundraisers and social events for our parish. Through the Community Life and Hospitality Committees, she provides hospitality to all parish events and assists in directing new parishioners to any resources for their family and any special needs they are in search of. Cheryl has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and equivalent experience in Pu blic Relations. She is an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoys golfing in the summer. Lucy Wronski

Jane Coakley

Jane Coakley manages St. John's Catholic Store. She keeps the store well supplied with cards, gifts, sacramental items, books, medals, statues and various other religious items. If there is something in particular that a customer wants and she doesn't usually stock it, she will special order whenever possible. Jane and her husband Ray raised six children and have 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was born and raised in Lockport and is an active member of St. John's Parish where she serves as Lector and on the Funeral Ministry Team. You can contact her at 434-4219 or Email

Michael Boron

Michael Boron has been the Director of St. John’s Outreach since September of 2010.Before joining Outreach, Michael was involved at St. John the Baptist-Lockport as a member of the Parish Council, and was the lead volunteer on the Temporalities Committee. He has also been the Parish Chair of the annual Catholic Charities appeal for the last three years. Before Outreach, Michael’s work experience included over 30 years in positions of Financial Executive Leadership with two well known Western New York based regional companies. His education includes Catholic elementary and High School, an undergraduate degree from Canisius College, and an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Michael and his family have lived in Lockport for 30 years.

Bob Vanderlinde

Bob Vanderlinde has been working here since 2010, has been appointed as the Facilty Manager, and has been instrumental in a number of notable projects around the parish. He oversaw the Church lighting project, worked with Fr James on our sound system upgrades in the Church and Hall, and has put many hours into both trying to keep our HVAC system working and to prepare for its replacement. Bob retired from General Motors as skilled tradesmen after 30 years of service. Bob enjoys hunting, fishing and camping, along with watching football. Patty Huntington

Patty Huntington has been working in the rectory since October 2012. Patty’s’ duties consist of cooking, cleaning and planning special events held in the rectory for the parish priests. She has also extended her skills to secretarial duties on a daily basis, ensuring visitors and parishioners’ needs are met. Therefore, she meets the expectations that are set forth by the Business Manager; which has made her a huge asset to our team.

Don Schumacher

Don is a native of Lockport. Don retired from GM after 32 years of employment. Don joined St John's maintenance team in 2010, and has been our "go to guy" for parish special events for set up. He is always willing to help our our parishioners with anything they made need. Don takes great pride in maintaining our campus; as he is always willing to go that "extra step" to make everything look just right. In his spare time, Don enjoys wood working, metal work and spending time with his family; especially with his two grandchildren. Don and his wife, Mary, live in Lockport.

Bruno Marotta

Bruno Marotta is a native of Lockport. He worked at Bells Supermarket and then Quality Markets as a Grocery Manager for 25 years. He recently joined St John’s in November 2014 and has become a valuable asset to our maintenance team. His smile has a contagious effect and he is a pleasure to have here at St. John’s. Bruno has two daughters and enjoys playing Bocce Ball in his spare time.

Joan Barrett

Joan Barrett started her position with St. John’s Outreach Center in September, 2015 as Acting Coordinator of Outreach Ministry Operations. Prior to her employment at St. John’s Outreach, Joan worked in the mental health field with foster care children as well as managing a group home for individuals diagnosed with various mental illnesses.
Joan graduated in May 2012 from Medaille College with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Daemen College.
Joan resides in the Town of Tonawanda with her two children Zachary and Addison and her two dogs, Miller and Cidka. She enjoys photography, hiking, camping, and art. In her spare time, you can often find her at Allegany State Park, one of her favorite places to go.
